Food-For-Families: Nanyang Primary School (8 September 2017) - CHILDREN'S WISHING WELL
Children’s Wishing Well (CWW) is a registered charity and IPC founded in 2002. We have won the Charity Transparency Awards accorded by MCCY from 2019 to 2023. We focus on supporting children and youth from low-income families, mainly through educational programmes and financial assistance. We reach out to over 1,000 beneficiaries each year via 2 full-service centres, 8 community sites, and collaborations with other charitable organisations. We depend solely on donations from private organisations and members of public to fund our services, while keeping all our programmes and services 100% free of charge for the children and families. We believe that by providing the children with educational support and more equal opportunities, they will be able to maximise their potential and get out of the poverty trap.

Food-For-Families: Nanyang Primary School (8 September 2017)

10 Nov Food-For-Families: Nanyang Primary School (8 September 2017)

Friday 8th September 2017. The last weekday of the school holiday. Most children would probably be trying to enjoy as much as they could before school reopened. Not so for a group of Primary 5 students from Nanyang Primary School. Led by Charlene Tan Rui Xian, Ian Pho Jun En and Moy Rui Jia, they decided to spend their holiday more meaningfully by giving back to society.

Charlene, Ian and Rui Jia got together and started a Donation Drive in school, collecting various food items. Response was overwhelming! All items were carefully packed and labelled before being delivered to Student Advisory Centre.

Charlene, Ian and Rui Jia also rallied their classmates, along with their parents, to participate in the packing of groceries at Student Advisory Centre. A total of 100 bags of groceries, consisting of 14 food items, needed to be packed. Although each bag weighed almost 10kg, the students were not deterred. They worked together in pairs and used trolleys to overcome the issue of the weight of the grocery bags. Displaying much enthusiasm and energy, the students, with the help of their parents, managed to finish packing all the grocery bags within an hour! Most amazingly, through it out, they never lost the bright smile on their faces.

Charlene, Ian, Rui Jia and their classmates have shown that one can never be too young to give back to society. We hope this significant act of kindness will inspire other children to step up and contribute to society as well.

We also would like to thank the parents as well as the teacher-in-charge, Ms Sarina, for their support and enthusiasm.
