SPEED - CHILDREN'S WISHING WELL
Children’s Wishing Well (CWW) is a registered charity and IPC founded in 2002. We have won the Charity Transparency Awards accorded by MCCY from 2019 to 2023. We focus on supporting children and youth from low-income families, mainly through educational programmes and financial assistance. We reach out to over 1,000 beneficiaries each year via 2 full-service centres, 8 community sites, and collaborations with other charitable organisations. We depend solely on donations from private organisations and members of public to fund our services, while keeping all our programmes and services 100% free of charge for the children and families. We believe that by providing the children with educational support and more equal opportunities, they will be able to maximise their potential and get out of the poverty trap.

SPEED (SPorts and wEllness for Every child)

What: A balanced diet, as promoted through FRESH, is one half of the equation. To ensure our children are truly healthy, they would need to engage in meaningful physical activities, and this is SPEED comes in to complement FRESH. The program aims to promote a more active lifestyle among our children and to ensure they have proper apparels and footwear when they engage in physical activities.

Each child is given a budget of $80 (in Gift Cards and to be borne by the volunteers) to shop for sports apparels and footwear at Decathlon. Duration is short (approximately 3 to 3.5 hours) and level of interaction is high (1 child to 1 adult ratio recommended).

2-way transport is required as the nearest Decathlon is not within manageable walking distance. Minimum number of children to be sponsored per session is 10. Do let us know if you would like to sponsor more
children.

As the program is likely to involve trying out of apparels and footwear and hence more time consuming, the number of volunteers should match the number of children to ensure that sufficient support and attention be given to each child.

This would be suitable for volunteers who wish to bring children out for shopping but may not be confident about being able to impart nutritional knowledge to the children.
